The Real Problem With The Email Scandal.

There seems to be no end to the email scandal which has dogged Hilary Clinton. People who support her rightly point out that the FBI investigation of the issue resulted in no charges, let’s  let them be the judge of how appropriate that was from a legal standpoint, but from a fairness standpoint let’s be real, the way that whole thing played out was horrible.

Let’s  suppose you were an engineer working for Apple. O.k. Apple has a strict company policy that if you work for them all company related communications done via email must be done through company accounts. You decide to set up your own private  email account instead. Then you also include confidential proprietary information in.emails you send through this account. Now what do you suppose would happen? My guess, given the gravity of that is that you would be terminated. Most certainly, in any respect, you would not be offered the job of CEO. Which is essentially what is happening with Secretary Clinton.

So the problem here isn’t even so much what she did as how it reflects the privilege being granted to her.

Let’s take a slightly different look at this. If this had come to light while she was serving as Secretary would she have been reprimanded, relieved of her duties, or forced to resign? And what effect would that have had on her presidential run? Given how squeaky clean Obama’s administration has been it’s hard to imagine her being given a pass on this.
